Responsible for implementing all components of the Biwaase’aa programs. These programs provide youth ages 7-18 with activities that promote culture, physical activity, healthy eating & nutrition, positive personal development and literacy & numeracy support.

Cook

Cook

The Cook is responsible for the daily operation of the kitchen and provision of healthy and nutritional food services for children (ages 18 months to 72 months) at Thunder Bay Aboriginal Head Start (TBAHS). The Cook will work in strict compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014, Thunder Bay District Health Unit and other applicable legislation.

After School Assistant

After School Assistant

Under the authority of the Program Supervisor of Biwaase’aa, the After-School Assistant (ASA) is responsible for working with the Youth Outreach Workers in the implementation of the After-School components of Biwaase’aa. The After-School program provides youth ages seven to eighteen (7-18) with activities that promote culture, physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, positive personal development and literacy support.

Under the authority of the Executive Director, the Program Manager will lead, mentor and support Supervisors and staff to deliver child, youth and family programs while ensuring that Shkoday’s vision, mandate and program deliverables are met and in alignment with Shkoday’s Strategic Plan.

Student Parent Support Workers (SPSW)

Under the direct supervision of the Program Director the Pathways Supervisor, is responsible for overseeing all components of the Thunder Bay Pathways Program. The Pathways Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and guidance of the Student Parent Support Workers (SPSW), Youth Facilitators, and other Volunteers and Students.

Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

Under the direct supervision of the Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) Supervisor, the Registered Early Childhood Educator is responsible for Aboriginal children (18 months to 6 years) attending Thunder Bay Aboriginal Head Start (TBAHS). Utilizing best practices and “How Does Learning Happen?” criteria, the RECE will contribute to the healthy mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional development of the child to allow for an easier transition to the next level of education.
